See Important Announcement Concering 2010 CDQ ApplicationsThe National Commission for Certification
of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) provides the certification
process for anesthesiologist assistants in the United States. The
National Commission's charter includes assuring the public that
certified anesthesiologist assistants (AA-C) meet basic standards
related to fund of knowledge and application of that knowledge to the
duties of practicing as an anesthesiologist assistant.
The certification process for anesthesiologist assistants includes an
initial certifying examination, ongoing registration of continuing
medical education, and interval examinations for continued demonstration
of qualifications.

Active Duty Armed Forces Personnel
Individuals who are on active duty in one of the US Armed Forces and who
are unable to take a regularly scheduled CDQ Examination may without
penalty exempt the examination opportunity(s) available while they are
on active duty. To exempt an examination opportunity, the
anesthesiologist assistant must meet all of the following criteria:
(1) Be currently certified.
(2) Have submitted a complete application for CDQ Examination and had
that application approved by NCCAA.
(3) Prior to the date of the CDQ Examination, have a commanding officer
submit verification that the individual will on active duty on the date
of examination or within 30 days prior to the examination.
